Senior Commercial Analyst

Join a leading ASX-listed company in the automotive industry! We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill a newly created position, reporting to the Manager of Commercial Finance. This role is accountable for the financial, management and analytical reporting for business units within the Segment.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnering:

  • Act as a value-add partner to the General Manager, providing support across finance and the broader business, creating simple and actionable insights to drive business performance.
  • Work alongside AP for weekly monitoring of customer credit limits, credit stops, and payment terms.
  • Partner with logistics and the inventory teams on vendor performance assessment
  • Align with Business Systems and support the consolidation of ERPs, streamline processes, etc.
Reporting & Analysis:

  • Work closely with the Business Unit Management team to identify opportunities to optimise business performance, driving revenue and profit while minimising costs.
  • Share responsibility for margin improvement through pricing, promotions, rebates, business initiatives, material cost monitoring, and other margin-related matters.
  • Control costs and identify efficiency opportunities through analysis of business outgoings.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Management team to minimise the risk of obsolete inventory and reduce slow-moving stock.
  • Oversee the completion of monthly financial reporting requirements for the Business Unit, ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely month-end processing.
  • Provide insightful analysis that can be actioned by the Business Unit to drive business performance.
  • Focus reporting on category analysis, yearly budgets, monthly forecasts, daily sales trading updates, ad hoc analysis, indirect taxes, internal controls, etc.
  • Liaise with external audit teams for annual audit reviews and other audit activities.
  • Implement new financial metrics and reporting as required.
  • Drive enhanced reporting across P&L, working capital, cash flow forecast, and demand planning.
Budgeting / Forecasting:

  • Support the Business Unit General Manager in coordinating the consolidation of the budget/forecasting, adhering to established timelines and growth objectives.
Robust Controls:

  • Ensure robust financial controls are followed throughout the business, including preparation/review of balance sheet reconciliations, and support for audit and internal control requirements.
Efficient Process Optimization:

  • Drive month-end close and reporting improvement and simplification initiatives.
  • Maximize capabilities of existing integrated accounting software while exploring other system-based opportunities to improve business reporting capability.
  • Support the introduction of business-wide reporting.
